I have been carving for about 30 years. I have carvings hanging in 3 churches and I have also sent 3 carvings to America and one to Ireland.

I joined a U3A woodcarving class tutored by Leonard Croft when I retired and started carving in the round. Under tuition from Malcolm Till, I started relief carving. I enjoy both styles and have found a rewarding and long-lasting hobby.

I have always had a love and feel for wood. I first started woodcarving in 1991, one year after retiring. Tutor, Len Croft, inspired and showed me the way with all the wrinkles in the round.

I only started carving when I retired, but I've found a lasting and satisfying hobby. The only trouble is time; "so little, so many carvings to do"!

Not done much carving yet. Interested in carving in the round - no real feel for relief. Mostly done projects for grandchildren, and marquetry. Been working on a carving for several years (started it on a carving course I won), not touched for a long time, but now I'm retired . . .

Following several stays in hospital during her childhood I promised my daughter a rocking horse - 28 years later I started carving one for her. The carving began in 2004 and the first horse was finished in 2006. A second horse was started in 2007 (for my son and daughter in law) and finished at the end of 2008. I joined WRWA in 2007 and have attempted a number of smaller carvings which (as at 2009) are still to be finished!
